We have achieved Music Mark for our music provision and are now working towards Arts Mark.
We run a Music Hub which offers specialist music provision across the whole school including staff. The Music Hub also offers specialist music tuition to other local schools through a skilled music department. The school has a very talented band and choir who are extremely committed and give up their break and lunch times to practice. Children perform regularly for the rest of the school and parents and often tour around other schools and care homes to show off their musical talents!
Our after school arts activities are linked to a different theme each term. Last term we focused on winter. Children from textiles and art club made a variety of artefacts including snowmen cushions, Christmas cards, Halloween pumpkins, 3D Christmas trees, finger paintings and keyrings.
For the spring term the theme is the Holst Solar System – The Planet Suit and its 100 year celebration. Each week children can choose a different planet and their work will represent this culminating in an after school event where parents will be invited to a showcase including a gymnastics demonstration and arts and crafts/sewing exhibition.
Art Club is open to children from all year groups. Children will research the chosen theme for the term and produce a various pieces of artwork over the term. The artwork will then be exhibited at a parent showcase at the end of term.
Sewing Club is currently open to children from Year 4 and 5 and will be delivered by a member of support staff who has an interest and sewing. Children will learn a variety of skills including cross stitch, backstitch and back tack.
Gymnastics runs twice per week, Year 5, 6 on a Tuesday, Year 3, 4 on a Wednesday. A member of support staff, who is a qualified gymnastics instructor, delivers the sessions. Children learn a routine to a piece of music, focusing on a different theme each term.
To apply for after school clubs please ask at the school office for a registration form.
