Ayresome is proud to announce the start of our new venture, the Ayresome Music Hub.
“If you cannot teach me to fly, teach me to sing.” ― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan
Music takes a vital and vibrant role in life at Ayresome Primary School with weekly music classes and singing practices, instrumental lessons from visiting tutors each with extensive experience as professional musicians, and a range of school ensembles.
Across the school children are given the opportunity to perform to each other as well as to parents and visitors, and our instrumentalists also join one of a number of school ensembles which perform to audiences all over the North East.
Performing alongside musicians from the Cobweb Orchestra, joining a massed choir of over 200 adults and school children, performing at the prestigious Sage in Gateshead or going to see professional singers and musicians in Matilda the Musical at Sunderland Empire Theatre: all of these events allow our children to see where their music can lead: that it is not only something that creates friendships, enriches life at school and improves academic results but is something that could have an impact on their whole lives.
