Are eggs alive?

This term we have been very busy in Park House. We explored a variety of animals in our topic ‘Can I have a dog yet?’ We then moved onto the topic ‘Are eggs alive?’ Where we looked at spring animals and the transformation of some animals from baby to adult, such as, caterpillars and frogs. We also explored cress and watched as it grew, we enjoyed exploring how it felt and some children even had a taste of the cress.

We enjoyed many books, including, Dear Zoo, the Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Very Hungry Caterpillar which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We also have explored the following traditional tales, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Ugly Duckling.

Our next topic is ‘Can we explore it?’

Some of the books we will explore next term are, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘Whatever Next!’ We will also be exploring ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.

We will become explorers over the next half term. We will be finding out what the words ‘under’, ‘over’, ‘in’, ‘out’ and ‘on’ mean. We will go for a walk to find numbers in our environment. There are lots of places to find numbers.

We will be looking at a variety of transport and seeing how different people travel around the world. Have you been on a journey? Could you talk to your child about your great travels? It is going to be a fun topic full of adventure!
