Cornerstones Topic

Our topic this half term is Gods and Mortals. During this topic we will be finding out about Ancient Greece and Greek Gods and Goddesses. We will be researching and finding out about what life was like in the Ancient Greek times and comparing this to how we live today. We will look at designing and making models of Greek Gods and Goddesses and we will also create our own Greek plates. Our topic covers lots of Geography, History, Art and Design, Design and Technology, PE, Music and PSHE objectives.

Power of Reading

During the Summer term, we will be reading Iron Man. In our English lessons our writing focus will be based around this text covering a range of different genres. Every two weeks the children will be given the opportunity to complete an independent piece of writing where they can showcase the skills they have learnt so far. We will make predictions about what the book will be about and get to know the characters, settings and plot within the different genres. We will also bring in our reading skills using inference and deduction to help us look in more detail at the story. We will be continuing to develop our writing by using a range of sentence types and richer vocabulary. We will also focus on using the correct punctuation accurately.
