Power of Reading

During the term, we will be reading ‘The Lion and the Unicorn and other Hairy Tales.’ We are so excited to predict what each book will be about and get to know the characters, setting and plot. We will cover a variety of different genres all linked to this book.

In Math, we will be looking at perimeter and geometry (angles, symmetry, position and direction). We will be recapping addition, subtraction and interpreting data in readiness for Year 5. We will use a variety of different strategies and resources to ensure we are confident in these areas.

We will be learning lots of different songs during the Summer term and we will perform them in assemblies. We can’t wait to use our best singing voices and show everyone what we can do in the Easter assembly. We will incorporate music into our math and topic lessons too.

In PE this term, the children will be taught athletics. The focus will be on long jump, 100m and 200m racing, javelin and lots of other fun track and field events.

In Science, we look at answering questions such as, Can you make a working series circuit?,

How does a switch work? , What are electrical conductors & insulators? We will answer these questions by using the plan, do, review and modelling approach.

In RE, will be focusing on the following three key questions during the Summer term:

Over the summer term we will be completing Digital Resilience then working on Numbers and Data in computer science.

Q7: Who are the leaders within the different religions?

Q8: What makes some books sacred and what influence do sacred books have on believers’ lives (emphasis on the bible and the Guru Granth Sahib)?

Q9:  How and why do religions teach that people should care for others and the natural world (emphasis Islam)?

Throughout the Summer term we will be completing Digital Resilience then working on Numbers and Data in our computing lessons.
